100,000 Youths to Benefit From Ikpeazu’s E4E Programme (See Details)

Over 100,000 youths will be trained in various technical and vocational skills by the Abia state government under its Education for Employment Programme (E4E) in the next 48 months.

Student Pulse gathered that the Technical Vocational Educational Training is scheduled to begin in November with100 students at three Technical Colleges; Boys’ Technical College, Secondary Technical Umuahia, and Government Technical Ohafia, representing for Abia South,  Abia Central and  Abia North senatorial zones of the state respectively.

The skills are expected to enable the youths to be self-employed or take up jobs in industries and help grow the economy.

Launching the programme at the Boys’ Technical College Aba, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who was represented by his Deputy, Ude Oko Chukwu, said E4E is will succeed with the support of the private sector.
“E4E is an employment generating programme that will only succeed when the private sector keys into it,” The Guardian quoted him as saying.

“Abia State in general and Aba in particular is an industrial and technical hub hence the various factories need manpower while the various creative processes require skills and finesse to maximize available opportunities.”

Each of the pilot colleges were presented with an E4E- branded bus at the event.

Governor Ikpeazu has focused on the education sector since he became governor of the state in May.

Last week, he awarded scholarships to two first class law graduates of the Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, and announced plans to slash tuition fees at the institution.
