Sexual harassment, cultism and other social vices are not tolerated at the Federal University, Otuoke (FUO), Bayelsa, says the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Bolaji Aluko.
Aluko said this last Friday when he received members of Governing Council of the university.
“In the university, we have zero tolerance for sexual harassment, we have zero tolerance for cult activities, examination cheating and theft,” he said.
“We have suspended seven students for exams malpractice and an employee for theft.
“This is a university that cares but we don’t condone any form of corruption.”
The Vice Chancellor also revealed National Universities Commission (NUC) will begin to accredit the University’s 12 programmes in October.
“This institution has been working very hard for the past three years to ensure full accreditation of the existing 12 programmes and now, we are good to go.
“Accreditation comes up in October.”
FUO is one of the nine federal universities established in 2011 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
It is located in the former President’s hometown.
