Manchester United have reportedly been given a clear path to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as rivals Manchester City are out of the running.
The Wales international indicated after his match winning double in the Champions League final win over Liverpool that he is unhappy at the Bernabeu.
Bale has been linked with Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Man City, but Jose Mourinho’s Man United have previously retained the most interest in the ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace.
According to The Guardian, Pep Guardiola is not interested in signing the 28-year-old, however, leaving the Red Devils as the only serious option if he opts to return home to Britain this summer.
Saturday’s famous double in Kiev earned Bale a fourth Champions League winners’ medal, adding to his extensive list of major honours during five seasons in the Spanish capital.
